1. Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
It was a bright and sunny morning. A large group of young boys gathered in the woodland with their bows and arrows. But they were not just ordinary boys. They were the five Pandavas and the hundred Kauravas! The five Pandava brothers and hundred Kaurava brothers were cousins. But a fierce rivalry between them began to grow even when they were only children.
The royal children learnt the skills of using weapons from Dronacharya. He was one of greatest warriors of his time. He had learnt the secret of powerful weapons from Parasurama. The Pandavas and the Kauravas were quick to learn. They soon picked up various skills. All the princes learnt the use of all the weapons.
Each of them had their own favourite weapons. Duryodhana and Bhima favoured the mace. Yudhisthira's choice of weapon was the spear. Arjuna was fascinated by bows and arrows. The twins Nakula and Sahadeva were most comfortable with swords.

Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation was the saintly leader of India. He was born on the 2nd October, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. He was honest and truthful from his very boyhood. He went to England to study law. He practised at the court of South Africa to defend the rights of the Indians living there. Gandhiji came back to India in 1919 and turned the tide of Indian history. He started Satyagraha against the British misrule. Soon he became the leader of the Indian National Congress. He led many mass movements viz. The Non-cooperation, Civil Disobedience, Quit India Movements, etc. He was sent to jail several times. Ultimately India won Independence on the 15th August, 1947. His method of movement was non-violent. He led a simple, sincere and saintly life. He lived close to the Indian masses. He was named 'Mahatma' by Rabindranath. Unfortunately, the Father of the Nation fell to the bullet on 30th January, 1948.

Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was a visionary teacher, poet, and radical thinker. He was born on 18th April 1809 at Entally in Kolkata. His parents were Francis Derozio and Sophie Johnson. He received his early education at David Drummond's 'Dharmatallah Academy'.
Later, Derozio worked as a dedicated teacher of English Literature and History at Hindu College. As a writer and reformer, he served as the assistant editor of 'The India Gazette', 'The East Indian', and 'The Bengal Annual'. He also composed famous patriotic poems such as 'To India - My Native Land' and 'The Harp of India'. This brilliant reformer passed away at a very young age on 26th December 1831.
