1. Read the passage and answer the questions:
When the family sits down to tea, the cat puts in an appearance to get his share. He purrs noisily and rubs himself against the legs of the family members. If there is a guest at the table the cat is particularly civil to him, because the guest is likely to have the best of what is offered. Sometimes, instead of giving him something to eat, the guest stoops down and strokes the cat, and says "Poor pussy! Poor pussy!" The cat soon tires of that. He puts up his claw and quietly but firmly rakes the guest in the leg, "Ow!" says the guest, "The cat stuck his claws into me !" The delighted family remarks, "Isn't it sweet of him?
Isn't he intelligent? He wants you to give him something to eat."
The guest dares not do what he would like to do-kick the cat out of the window. So, with tears of and hands it down. The cat gingerly receives it, with a look in his eyes that says, "Another time, my rage and pain in his eyes, he affects to be very much amused, and sorts out a bit of fish from his plate friend, you won't be so slow to understand." He purrs as he retires to a safe distance from the guest's boot before eating his food.

Albert Camus was a French philospher, author and journalist. His views contributed to the rise of the philosophy known as 'Absurdism'. He wrote in his essay 'The Rebel' that his whole life was devoted to opposing the philosophy called 'Nihilism' while still delving deep into individual freedom. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957 at the age of 44.
Camus was born on November 7, 1913 in Drèan (then known as Mondovi) in French Algeria. His mother was of Spanish descent and could only hear out of her left ear. His father, Lucien, a poor peasant of Alsatian descent, was wounded in the Battle of the Marne in 1914 during World War I, while serving as a member of a Zouave infantry regiment. Lucien died from his wounds in a makeshift army hospital on October 11, 1914. Camus and his mother, an illiterate house cleaner, lived without many basic material possessions during his childhood in the Belcourt section of Algiers.

In the olden days in England, the laws were very cruel. A man could be hanged for a very small offence. The Sheriffs, who were the keepers of law, were ignorant men and would hang a man on little or no evidence. Often, when a man feared some punishment from the Sheriff, he would run away to the forest. In the forest he would join the company of other men who had come there like him. Such men were called 'outlaws'. They made their living by hunting deer and by robbing travellers on the highways.
Robin Hood was the leader of a company of outlaws, who lived in Sherwood forest. His name was a terror to rich travellers, but he was loved by the poor, whom he saved from cruel landlords, and often helped them with money.
The Sheriff of the nearby town was his arch enemy. After many vain attempts to catch Robin Hood, the Sheriff one day made a proclamation: "I am willing to give half of my wealth to anyone who helps me to catch Robin Hood."
